Sounding With the Ruhr

During the Grand Snail Tour festival in Herdecke, Germany, we performed a concert in collaboration with the Herdecker Kanu-Club. We created the so called “Sounding Oars”, that make a low, horn-like sound every time you put them in the water. These instruments translate every detail of your movement into sound. The consistency of the tone, the volume, timbre and sometimes even pitch, are influenced by how fast, slow or bouncy you move them through the water.

We loved the enthusiasm with which the participants from the Kanu-Club helped us connect our concert to the water, the audience and the local community!
